Diocese of Santo Amaro

Also known as: Diocese of Santo Amaro

São Paulo

Roman Catholic diocese in southern São Paulo, founded in 1989.

The Diocese of Santo Amaro is a Roman Catholic diocese based in the Santo Amaro district of São Paulo. Established in 1989 as a division of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, it encompasses numerous parishes across the southern reaches of the metropolitan area. The cathedral church serves as the spiritual centre and bishop's seat of the diocese. As one of Brazil's newer dioceses, Santo Amaro reflects the rapid urban expansion of São Paulo and the growing pastoral needs of one of the world's most populous conurbations.
