Engativá

Also known as: Engativa

Bogotá

Populous borough in northern Bogotá, northeast of El Dorado Airport, home to around 1.3 million residents.

Engativá is Bogotá's tenth borough and one of the most populous in the Colombian capital — around 1.3 million people live here, making it the city's fourth-largest district. Located northeast of El Dorado International Airport, Engativá was long an independent municipality in the department of Cundinamarca before being absorbed into the expanding capital in 1954. Today the district is shaped by a mix of dense residential neighborhoods, small commercial centers and parks — typical of everyday Bogotá beyond the tourist core. Local markets, schools and sports grounds define the streetscape, and its proximity to the airport makes it a lively hub in the city's north.
