Akkale

Akkale is a ruin field of late-Roman or Byzantine origin located near the ancient city of Elaiussa Sebaste on Turkey's southern coast, in the historical region of Cilicia. The surrounding area once formed a prosperous harbor city with temples, baths, and necropolises that flourished under Roman and later Byzantine rule for several centuries. The site remains largely unexcavated and sits well off mainstream tourist routes, making it a quiet destination for travelers drawn to ancient ruins in undisturbed landscape.
