Istanbul Cinema Museum

The Istanbul Cinema Museum traces the full arc of Turkish filmmaking, with its permanent collection centered on the Yeşilçam era — named after the Beyoğlu street that served as the hub of Turkey's studio system from the 1950s through the 1980s. Housed in a handsomely renovated building on a pedestrian street a short walk from Taksim metro, the museum displays a large collection of vintage cameras and projectors, film clips, and production memorabilia spanning decades of Turkish cinema. An upper floor hosts rotating special exhibitions — including a recent Star Wars fan showcase. First-time visitors unfamiliar with Turkish film often leave converted; plan at least half a day to cover both the permanent and temporary floors.
