Eye Filmmuseum

EYE Filmmuseum on the northern IJ waterfront is the national film museum of the Netherlands. In 2012 the institution moved into a striking new building by Vienna firm Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, whose crystalline white form appears to fold out of the water opposite Amsterdam Centraal. The collection traces back to the Filmmuseum founded in 1946 and includes roughly 50,000 films. Four cinemas screen classics, restorations and premieres daily. Major changing exhibitions on directors such as Hitchcock or Wong Kar-wai draw a wide audience. The free ferry from Centraal Station is part of the experience.
