Belarus's oldest theatre – the 1890-founded national playhouse in central Minsk, named after poet Janka Kupala.

The Janka Kupala National Academic Theatre is the oldest playhouse in Belarus. Named after the Belarusian national poet Janka Kupala, it was founded in 1890 and officially inaugurated as Belarus's first state theatre on 14 September 1920. The theatre plays a central role in preserving Belarusian language and culture and is listed on Belarus's cultural heritage register. Located in the heart of Minsk, it is a key address for drama and national cultural life, regularly staging classical and contemporary productions in the Belarusian language.
