The Landis Theatre on Landis Avenue in Vineland, New Jersey, is a 1937 Art Deco movie house listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2000. Its opening film was 'Hats Off,' and during World War II the auditorium served as a USO gathering point for servicemen from nearby bases. In 1980 the single auditorium was twinned in a last attempt to compete with Vineland's newer multiplexes, but the theater closed for good in 1987 — its final screening was 'House 2.' The building has stood vacant since, a quiet relic of the golden age of American neighborhood cinema.
