Μοναστηριακά ερείπια

These monastery ruins are the sparse remains of a monastic complex near Mosynopolis, in the Thrace region of northern Greece. Mosynopolis was once a significant Byzantine city — a bishopric and waystation on the Via Egnatia during the 12th and 13th centuries — before it was abandoned in the medieval period. Today only fragmentary wall sections survive above ground, with little to no on-site interpretation. The site appeals to visitors drawn to Byzantine history and overgrown ruins, but requires independent research before visiting.
