Musashino Forest Park

Also known as: Musashino-no-mori Park

Musashino Forest Park is a roughly thirty-hectare municipal park opened in 2000 in western Tokyo where the cities of Mitaka, Fuchu, and Chofu meet. The park was created as part of a larger green-belt plan around the small Chofu regional airfield - so one end is regularly buzzed by propeller planes taking off, which has made the park a quiet favorite among plane-spotters. Wide lawns, small water features, a play area, and cherry-tree avenues that fill up for hanami picnics in spring. A popular weekend spot for families from the west Tokyo suburbs; about ten minutes by bus from Chofu station.
