Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill is a 78-metre green knoll directly north of Regent's Park in London, named after the primroses that once flowered on its slopes in the Middle Ages. From the summit plateau you look out over one of the skylines officially protected under the London View Management Framework: BT Tower, St Paul's, the Shard and the pinnacles of the Palace of Westminster line up in sequence. The hill became public parkland through an 1841 Act intended to give working-class Londoners access to fresh air. The surrounding neighbourhood is now one of the most expensive in the city, full of pastel terraces and gastropubs. On summer evenings picnic groups settle in for sunset, and on New Year's Eve crowds climb the slope to watch the London Eye fireworks.
