Canberra is the capital city of Australia, situated in the Australian Capital Territory roughly 280 kilometres south-west of Sydney. Planned and purpose-built in the early twentieth century as a federal capital compromise between Sydney and Melbourne, it is home to around 380,000 people. The city offers a range of experiences, from the Lake Ginninderra Western Foreshore Park and the Rose Garden to the Gungahlin Place and the Duntroon Woolshed. Cultural points such as General Sir John Monash, Dance of the Secateurs, and the Tasmanian Rainforest add further depth to a visit.
