Canberra Museum and Gallery

The Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) is the city's dedicated civic institution for art and local history, opened on 13 February 1998 on London Circuit in the city centre. It holds a permanent collection documenting Canberra's development as a planned capital alongside rotating exhibitions of contemporary Australian art and photography. Admission is free and the gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. As the only institution of its kind in the territory, CMAG offers a focused look at the people, stories and artistic output that have shaped Australia's purpose-built capital city.
