Imperia

About Imperia

Imperia lies on the Ligurian coast in north-west Italy, roughly 50 kilometres west of Sanremo. The city was created in 1923 by merging the two historic towns of Oneglia and Porto Maurizio, and today has a population of around 42,000. Olive groves and the characteristic Ligurian hill landscape define its setting. Local points of interest include the Oratorio, the Chiesa del Cuore Immacolato di Maria, and the Martiri italiani delle Foibe memorial. Hiking routes connect viewpoints such as Monte Quagli, Pizzo Montin, and Colle Castellareto.
