Canton of Basel-Stadt
Basel-Stadt is Switzerland's smallest canton by area, situated at the junction of Switzerland, Germany and France along the Rhine. With around 200,000 residents packed into a compact territory, it ranks among the most densely populated cantons in the country. Historically linked to the neighbouring half-canton of Basel-Landschaft, the two have been administratively separate since 1833. Visitors to the canton can explore local spots including the Matthäusmarkt, the Kleiderbügelmuseum, and the Rösslirytti, offering a range of experiences beyond the city centre.
