Ukraine is the largest country lying entirely within Europe, bordering Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova, with coastlines on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Its capital, Kyiv, is one of the oldest urban centres in Eastern Europe. The landscape ranges from vast steppe and fertile agricultural plains to the Carpathian Mountains in the west.
