Aberdeen Art Gallery

Aberdeen Art Gallery sits on Schoolhill in central Aberdeen, housed in a neoclassical granite building that opened in 1885 and is now protected as a Category A listed structure. The collection spans Impressionist and Victorian painting, 20th-century British and Scottish art, alongside decorative arts including ceramics, costume, furniture, glass, and silverware — one of the most comprehensive civic collections in Scotland. Following a major renovation completed in 2019, the gallery gained a light-filled glass atrium that connects the historic wings while creating a striking contemporary interior. Admission is free, cementing its role as a cultural anchor for the city.
