Abteikirche Sankt Peter und Sankt Paul

The Abbey Church of Saints Peter and Paul is the architectural centerpiece of Wissembourg in northern Alsace, a predominantly Gothic structure whose origins date to the early 13th century. The monastery it once belonged to has an even longer history: founded in the 7th century, it ranked among the most important Benedictine abbeys along the Upper Rhine throughout the medieval period. Classified as a Monument Historique since 1930, the church is one of the largest places of worship in northern Alsace. It still serves as an active Roman Catholic parish church, and its interior retains medieval details — stonework and stained glass that reflect a building process spanning several centuries.
