Achzivland

Achzivland is a self-declared micronation on the Israeli Mediterranean coast, proclaimed in 1971 by Eli Avivi — a former sailor who simply claimed the abandoned Arab village of Achziv after the 1948 war and refused to leave when Israeli authorities sought to evict him. Internationally unrecognized and legally ambiguous, Avivi issued his own passports, collected entry fees, and ran the enclave as a living counterculture experiment for decades. The coastal site draws visitors not as a conventional attraction but as a tangible oddity: a one-man state that has outlasted its founder's court battles and persisted into the present as a footnote in the theory of statehood.
