Adnan Menderes Anıt Mezarı

The memorial tomb of Adnan Menderes is set within the Topkapı Anıt Mezarı complex in Istanbul, commemorating Turkey's first democratically elected prime minister, who was executed following the military coup of May 27, 1960. Menderes led the Democrat Party from 1950 to 1960, overseeing rapid economic modernization and Turkey's entry into NATO — his hanging on İmralı Island remains one of the defining traumas of modern Turkish political life.
