The Albarine is a roughly 59-kilometre river in the Ain département of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, rising on a karst plateau in the southern Jura mountains near Brénod. Its most dramatic feature is the Cascade de Charabotte near Hauteville-Lompnes, where the river plunges into a gorge before winding westward to join the Ain. The narrow valley offers hiking trails along the gorge and opportunities for kayaking and fishing.
