All Saints

All Saints Church in the village of Wing, Buckinghamshire, is among the oldest surviving churches in England, with masonry walls built largely between the 8th and 11th centuries — well before the Norman Conquest of 1066. Its most striking feature is a rare intact polygonal apse, a form almost without parallel in English pre-Conquest architecture. Listed at Grade I, the highest tier of English heritage protection, the building has been a place of continuous Christian worship for over a thousand years. Inside, successive layers of stonework trace more than a millennium of building history, making it an unusually tangible encounter with early medieval England for visitors who look beyond the modern surroundings of Milton Keynes.
