Аю-Даг

Aju-Dag — meaning 'Bear Mountain' in Crimean Tatar — is a striking coastal massif and cape jutting into the Black Sea on the Crimean Peninsula, situated roughly 16 kilometres northeast of Yalta. The mountain owes its name to its bear-like silhouette as seen from the shore. At its foot lies the famous Artek pioneer camp, which during the Soviet era was the most prestigious children's summer camp in the entire USSR and continues to operate as a resort facility today. Hikers who make the ascent along rough trails to the summit at around 570 metres are rewarded with sweeping views across the Black Sea coastline and the surrounding villages of Partenit and Hurzuf.
