The Dingli Cliffs line the southwestern coast of Malta and mark the highest point of the entire Maltese archipelago: at the Ta' Dmejrek ridge, the limestone escarpment drops a sheer 253 metres straight into the Mediterranean. Unlike Malta's busier northern shores, the plateau here is largely undeveloped — a narrow band of arable land just below the cliff edge is still farmed by local families, lending the landscape an almost timeless quality. A footpath follows the clifftop with unobstructed views over the open sea and, on clear days, out to the uninhabited islet of Filfla. Late afternoon brings some of the most atmospheric light on the island as the sun sets low over the water.
