Anamudi

Anamudi, at 2,695 metres, is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and all of South India. Situated in Eravikulam National Park at the convergence of the Cardamom, Anaimalai, and Palani Hills, the mountain sits at a biogeographic crossroads that accounts for the region's exceptional biodiversity. The park is one of the last strongholds of the Nilgiri tahr, a mountain ungulate found almost nowhere else on Earth. Trekking to the summit requires an official park permit; the route climbs through montane shola forests and rolling grasslands — an ecosystem unique to the high ranges of the Western Ghats. The summit rewards hikers with sweeping views across Kerala's layered green ridgelines.
