An Caisteal

An Caisteal — Gaelic for "The Castle" — is a 995-metre Munro in the southern Scottish Highlands, situated south of Crianlarich within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The name refers to the mountain's blocky, castle-like summit structure that gives it a distinctive silhouette from the glen below. As one of Scotland's 282 Munros — peaks above 3,000 feet catalogued since Sir Hugh Munro's 1891 survey — it draws dedicated "Munro-baggers" ticking off summits across the country. The standard ascent starts from a layby on the A82 and takes around four to five hours return. On clear days the summit rewards walkers with open views across the Trossachs hills and toward the broad bulk of Ben More to the north.
