Temple of Aphaea

High on a hilltop on the island of Aegina stands one of the best-preserved temples of archaic Greece - dedicated to the fertility goddess Aphaia. Offerings were made here as early as the Mycenaean era; the current building phase around 500 BC forms, together with the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion and the Parthenon, the so-called sacred triangle of Attica.
