Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial

The Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, situated west of Neupré (Neuville-en-Condroz) and about 20 kilometers southwest of Liège, holds the graves of 5,328 American servicemen killed in World War II. Maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission, the site honors primarily those who fell during the Battle of the Bulge — Germany's last major western offensive in the winter of 1944–45. White marble crosses and Stars of David stand in precise rows across a manicured hillside, while a chapel features wall maps tracing the campaigns. The scale and immaculate order of the grounds convey the human cost of the Ardennes fighting with quiet, measured force.
