The Art Gallery of New South Wales is Sydney's premier art museum, founded in 1871 and housed in its current neoclassical building in The Domain since 1897. The collection spans Australian art from Aboriginal to contemporary, European masters, and Asian and Pacific collections. Permanent exhibitions are free. Since 2022, the museum has expanded with the Sydney Modern Project, a new building by SANAA.
