Allan Cunningham

This artwork or memorial in Sydney commemorates Allan Cunningham (1791–1839), an English botanist and explorer who surveyed large parts of Australia on behalf of the British Crown. Cunningham catalogued hundreds of previously unknown plant species, laying the groundwork for scientific botany on the continent — his author abbreviation 'A.Cunn.' still appears in taxonomic literature today. The precise location and form of the memorial are not well documented, so visitors should look for on-site information.
