Aschberg

The Aschberg, at 936 metres, is one of the prominent summits of the western Erzgebirge range near Klingenthal in the Vogtland region, sitting squarely on the Saxon-Czech border — the actual peak lies just over the line on Czech territory, while the border crossing occurs at around 917 metres. Ascending from the German side therefore involves stepping into Czechia at the top, giving the hike a quietly cross-border character. The surrounding landscape is classic Erzgebirge: spruce forest, open ridge meadows, and long views south into Bohemia and north across the Vogtland hills. In winter the slopes attract sledders and cross-country skiers; in summer it is a straightforward family-friendly hike from Klingenthal.
