Aussichtsfelsen

The Greifensteine are a striking granite rock formation in the Geyerscher Wald of the Erzgebirge mountains near Ehrenfriedersdorf, protected as a natural monument under Saxon law. Of the original 13 rocks, only seven remain — the rest were quarried away over centuries, with extraction finally ceasing in 1923. The tallest pillar reaches 731.7 metres above sea level, offering an open 360-degree panorama across the densely forested ridge country of the Erzgebirge. Well-marked hiking trails lead through the area, and the weathered granite towers make for approachable bouldering and scrambling suitable for families and casual hikers alike.
