Andernach station

Andernach station opened in 1858 as part of the left-bank Rhine railway line, making it one of the oldest continuously operating stations in the region. It also serves as the terminus of the Eifelquerbahn, the cross-Eifel line connecting the Rhine valley to the upland plateau. Alongside its four passenger tracks, a freight yard to the east handles container traffic to the Rhine port and the Rasselstein sheet-metal mill — an uncommon combination of regional passenger and active industrial rail use.
