Hakodate Station

Hakodate Station is the southern terminus of the JR Hokkaido Main Line and has served the city since its original opening in 1902 during the Meiji period. Hakodate's early role as one of Japan's first treaty ports made rail access a priority, and the station long functioned as the primary gateway onto Hokkaido. Today it serves mainly as a transfer point for the city's historic tram network and buses toward Mount Hakodate, but the building itself is a plain modern structure of limited architectural interest.
