Martigny railway station

Martigny railway station, opened in 1859 on the Simplon line, serves primarily as a transit hub in the Swiss Rhone Valley. Two narrow-gauge lines branch off here: the Martigny–Orsières railway heading into the Orsières valley, and the Martigny-Châtelard railway continuing toward Chamonix in France. It is a practical interchange for hikers and mountain-rail travellers exploring the Valais, but holds little architectural or cultural distinction beyond its transport function.
