Novosibirsk Main railway station
Novosibirsk Main Station is a major railway hub in the heart of Western Siberia, opened in 1893 as a foundational node of the Trans-Siberian Railway — the roughly 9,300-kilometre line linking Moscow to Vladivostok. The city of Novosibirsk itself grew almost entirely out of the settlement that formed around this crossing of the Ob River. The current station building, with its monumental facade characteristic of Soviet classicism, is protected as an object of regional cultural heritage. Long-distance trains on the legendary Transsib, including the multi-day Rossiya express to Moscow, pass through daily, making the station a tangible gateway between European Russia and the Asian continent.
