Rolandseck station

The station building at Rolandseck, constructed in 1858 along the left bank of the Rhine, is one of the early landmarks of Rhineland railway history and is today a listed cultural monument. The site has long attracted artists: Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp were among the figures connected to its creative circles in the 20th century. The historic structure has since been seamlessly extended by a Richard Meier-designed pavilion and now houses the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, dedicated to the work of Hans Arp alongside changing exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. Its position directly on the Rhine offers quiet river views away from the more heavily visited stretches of the Middle Rhine valley.
