Roma Street station is one of Brisbane's principal rail hubs, positioned on the western edge of the central business district. It handles both Queensland's narrow-gauge suburban and regional trains and standard-gauge NSW TrainLink services running south to New South Wales — an unusual dual-gauge operation within a single station. Alongside Central, Fortitude Valley, and Bowen Hills stations, it forms one of four stops on Brisbane's heavily used inner-city rail corridor. The station functions primarily as a transit interchange rather than a destination in its own right.
