Rotkreuz railway station
Rotkreuz railway station sits in the municipality of Risch in the canton of Zug and opened in 1864 on the Lucerne–Zurich main line. Its station building is designed in the Heimatstil, a characteristically Swiss architectural idiom that blended regional craft traditions with the civic ambition of 19th-century rail construction. Today the station is one of Switzerland's busiest rail junctions, handling around 15,600 passenger train journeys daily across long-distance, regional, and S-Bahn services, plus over one million bus connections annually. It also carries an official designation as a freight marshalling yard, making it a key node in the Swiss single-wagon goods network.
