Bald Knob

Bald Knob is a forested summit near Richwood, West Virginia, set in the central Appalachian highlands. Like many 'bald knobs' across the region, the name refers to the open, treeless crown that marks its exposed upper slopes — a typical feature of wind-scoured Appalachian peaks. The hike passes through dense mixed hardwood forest before opening up to wide views across the ridgelines of central West Virginia. It offers a quiet day-hike experience away from the more heavily visited corridors of the region.
