Barntown Castle (ruins)

Barntown Castle is the ruin of a medieval tower house situated roughly 5 km west of Wexford town along the main road to New Ross in County Wexford. Tower houses of this type were built across Ireland between the 15th and 17th centuries as fortified residences for Anglo-Irish landed gentry. Little remains beyond fragmentary walls along the roadside, and the site carries no formal heritage designation or visitor infrastructure. It is a quiet roadside remnant for those with an interest in the dispersed tower house landscape of County Wexford.
