Taal Basilica

The Basilica of St. Martin of Tours is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in the historic town of Taal, Philippines, dedicated to St. Martin of Tours. Completed in 1878 in a classicist style, it stands as a late product of Spanish colonial ecclesiastical architecture, at a time when the Philippines was approaching the end of over three centuries of Spanish rule. Taal is widely regarded as one of the country's best-preserved colonial towns, and the basilica serves as its spiritual anchor, drawing pilgrims from across the Batangas region. Its orderly classicist facade — pilasters, triangular pediment, symmetrical massing — distinguishes it from the more austere baroque mission churches of the early colonial era.
