Basilica di San Giovanni Battista
Milan
The Basilica of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary is a late-18th-century Baroque parish church in Wadowice, Lesser Poland, holding the title of Basilica minor within the Diocese of Kraków. Its articulated facade anchors the town's main square. Wadowice is inseparable from the legacy of Karol Wojtyła — the future Pope John Paul II — who was baptized in this very church in 1920 and worshipped here throughout his childhood. That connection transforms what might otherwise be a regional Baroque church into a significant pilgrimage destination drawing visitors from across the Catholic world. The interior retains 18th-century Baroque furnishings, and the building is protected as an immovable monument under Polish heritage law.
