Tayabas Basilica

The Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Tayabas City, Philippines, under the Diocese of Lucena. Completed in 1894 from brick masonry in the baroque style characteristic of Spanish colonial church architecture across the Philippines, it was built in the waning years of Spanish rule — a period when ecclesiastical construction continued even as colonial authority weakened. Its status as a basilica minor grants it special liturgical standing within the Catholic Church, with the archangel Michael as its patron. The church stands on General Luna Street at the center of historic Tayabas, one of the older settlements in Quezon Province.
