Beach Lighthouse

The Beach Lighthouse, also known as the Lower Light, stands at the mouth of the River Wyre in Fleetwood, Lancashire, built in 1840 as one component of an unusually sophisticated three-lighthouse navigation system. Working in tandem with the Pharos Lighthouse in the town centre and the offshore Wyre Light, it provided a leading-line sequence that guided vessels safely through the sandbank-riddled Wyre estuary — a level of coordinated maritime engineering rare for its era. A Grade-II listed structure today, it sits along the seafront promenade with open views across the Irish Sea and the broad tidal flats of the estuary.
