Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace

Neo-Baroque palace (remodelled 1847) at the Fontanka corner of Nevsky Prospekt — now a concert hall hosting classical music in St. Petersburg's most prestigious setting.

The Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace occupies a prime corner where Nevsky Prospekt meets the Fontanka River in St. Petersburg. Originally built in the late 18th century, it was entirely remodelled in 1847–1848 by architect Andrei Stackenschneider in the neo-Baroque style, closely mirroring the Stroganov Palace at the other end of Nevsky. The deep red façade, sculpted atlantes, and exuberant ornamental detail make it one of the most theatrically decorative buildings in the city. The palace once belonged to Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia. Today it serves as a concert hall and cultural centre, hosting classical music performances and exhibitions that keep its grand rooms very much alive.
