About Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg sits at the mouth of the Neva River on the Gulf of Finland in northwestern Russia and, with a population of around 5.6 million, is the country's second-largest city. Founded in the early eighteenth century as the imperial capital, it remains one of Russia's foremost cultural and historical centres. Among the points of interest documented here are a monument to writer S. D. Dovlatov, an equestrian statue of Peter II, the Church of the Presentation of the Theotokos, and the Museum of Lighthouse Service.
