Aurora cruiser

The Cruiser Aurora is Russia's most famous museum ship and a symbol of the October Revolution. On 25 October 1917 (old calendar), the Aurora fired the blank shot that signalled the storming of the Winter Palace. Built in 1900 for the Imperial Russian Navy, it survived the Battle of Tsushima in 1905. Since 1956 it has been permanently moored before the Nakhimov Naval Academy. Open to visitors as a floating museum.
