Frauenzell Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery in the hamlet of Frauenzell, part of the municipality of Brennberg in the Upper Palatinate region, roughly 20 kilometres east of Regensburg. Founded in 1301, the complex underwent several Baroque rebuilding phases during the 17th and 18th centuries that defined its present appearance. Like many Bavarian monasteries, Frauenzell lost its monastic function during the secularisation of 1803. Today it stands as a listed heritage monument set in the quiet forested landscape of the Oberpfalz — a place that still carries traces of its former character as a site of Marian pilgrimage.
