Abbaye Saint-Paul de Cormery

The Abbaye Saint-Paul de Cormery is a former Benedictine monastery in the village of Cormery, in the Indre-et-Loire département roughly 25 kilometres southeast of Tours. Founded in the early Middle Ages, it was once a significant monastic centre of the Touraine region and is today classified as a historic monument under French heritage law. What survives are largely ruins — Romanesque walls and arched remnants — that give the site a contemplative, atmospheric quality far removed from the Loire Valley's more visited châteaux.
