Mount of Beatitudes

The Mount of Beatitudes rises on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel, traditionally identified as the hillside where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, recorded in the Gospel of Matthew as the eight Beatitudes. The octagonal Franciscan church crowning the site was designed by Antonio Barluzzi and completed in 1938 — its eight-sided plan deliberately echoes the number of the Beatitudes, and its green dome is visible from the lake below. Manicured gardens surround the chapel, offering a quiet terrace with sweeping views across the Sea of Galilee toward the Golan Heights. The site is open daily with set hours and charges an entrance fee; visitors are expected to observe silence on the grounds.
